On April 14, 2021 I was discharged from Victoria Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre.
This was my third mental health inpatient experience. While it wasn’t all rainbows, this was a very positive experience. Well, in the big picture when you keep making it… each healthcare experience is net positive. This one started with a medication thermostat calibration back in October and some more elevated mood symptoms that needed correcting in late March. The end result was simply great – I feel confident, rested, reassured and most importantly I know that I CAN DO THIS. As can each and every one of us, together and individually. We got this!
Healthcare is hard work, but it’s so worth it. And while our system in Canada is certainly stretched to the limit, it isn’t broken. Not in the slightest. The fact that I received extraordinary care during a terrible pandemic is a testament that no matter what, we have healthcare. For that I am very grateful.
I started composing this micro website story called “THIS IS ME” while I was in hospital this most recent chapter of my journey. I hope it provides you a little insight into my brain, and a little hope.
